Any idea if it came from the kirkwall side or scapa flow side? Think this is the same prop that is at the fossil centre.Would be good to find out who lifted it. Any ideas out there?

William, I am pretty sure that this prop is the same one as in picture #3463. It spent some time outside Orkney Builders garage where it was cleaned up. Orkney Builders/ Leslie Firth/ Fossil Centre.

I believe this is the prop off a Grumman Avenger aircraft which crashed into the sea whilst taking off from HMS Trumpeter in Scapa Flow in August 1944.
