Beautiful harness on the horse though. You don't see that often these days

This is my grandfather's old clydesdale mare Zara, she was the last of the Orkney descended Clydesdales (all others were of 'sooth' bloodlines). The foal would have been Feolquoy Cleo and I think this may have been the County Show 1987 rather than Dounby, but I may be wrong. I dont think we ever did full harness at Dounby. I remember the countless hours that went into getting that harness and cart ready for show ! Happy memories.

Yes Moira, it's a pity I left some of it out of the frame. I don't know who owned the animals; if I remember rightly, Aubrey Flett was handling the mare.

As regards which show it was, I can only say the original slide has Dounby Show written by me on the mount, and the slide is in a group all labelled that way. But of course it's more than likely I'd have had shots of both shows on the same roll of film, and by the time it came back from processing I might have mixed them up in my mind.
