Wae so much work going on at Lyness now I thought this photo of workers on the construction o Lyness afore the war might be o intrest.

The only man that I know is whur uncle Stanley Thomson third fae the right,widna think there will be many aroond noo that wid ken the ithers.

No rigger boots and hard hats for these guys jist tackety boots breeks tied at the knees and the smell o sweat.

John, I am near sure its my father George Hamilton, third fae the left beside Stanley, but he was wi Metal Industries when he married in december 1938, wonder is this photo some o the salvage workers, or if it was earlier when the tunnel was getting made my father worked at it.

Just thinking the tunnel would have been built later than 38, no earlier as in my other comment..

Rigger boots are now even banned from many construction sites due to the lugs snagging on materials.

Hid never ceases tae amaze me the power o this site, I never thought we wid learn who the others in the photo are, I have others like it so hid would be worth pittan them on, you jist never know,I have nothing to go by as there is nothing on the back o the photo but there will be very soon!!.Thank you all .
