Orkney Exiles (in Caithness)

About the end of 1972. A do in Wick for so called Orkney Exiles although we were only in Caithness! I could see Brims when I drove home from work every day and it seemed so near yet so far.
Front row. Folk that owned the hotel, Marie Bain,Kathleen Wylie, Me, ? ? Sam the Barber (The rubber king was all I ever heard him called)?? Bill Peace's wife, Nelly Kirkpatrick I think she was a sister of Dan and Bill Peace (could fairly play the spoons).
Further back I am just going to write the names of folk I Know. Patty Wilson from Oreaquoy, Lyness. worked at the same place as me HMS Vulcan, a cousin of Aurthur Budge who used to come to the Peedie Lythes every year. Next to Patty, Mrs Stevenson, Donny Manson and his wife and Patty's wife with the cog in their hand, Geordie Garrock the policeman, Sigurd and a Stephen man that had a chip shop in Thurso. Don't really know the rest.

Comments:
What a brilliant photo.
Everybody looks so happy (which is probably due to the cog!)
I see the late Billy Stephen at the back left of the photo.
It would be good to get all the names though.

Front Row: To the right of Robert Campbell is Alfred Hurchison (Cllr Hurchison from Stromness) probably with the lighthouse board at the time and to his immediate right is the late Alistair Wylie, brother of Balfour Wylie. At the very back, under the wall heater is young Myrtle Fergus from Deerness.

Dennis and Hilary Hill - seated far right - they owned the Nethercliff Hotel in Wick (their son still runs it). Dennis was from Eday I think and Hilary nee Johnston was from Evie.

I see you mum, where was Victor! I also remember Ernie Scollay and Victor making home brew in Kinnaird St Wick! Ernie was a legend!

George Cormack was an English teacher at Wick High School for many years. Him, Dennis, and Hillary spent many a night dramming at our house in Shore Lane!...Those were the days.
