Never seen one before but I think this is a water boatman.Found in the gress at Aithsdale, Longhope today, Wed.7th April 2010.
ps. It is in a microwave dish but, be assured, it was released safe and well.

Four days have passed and no-one's responded, which surprises me. Though no entomologist, I can say with confidence that yes, this is a water boatman. Not sure why we have to say WATER boatman; it's unlikely there could be dry-land boatmen or custard boatmen etc.
