Allan, this is the Hogarth ship "Baron Fairlie" which was in collision with the Norwegian motorship "Tennessee" (Wilhelmsen line) in May 1940. The " Tennessee" was on a voyage from Calcutta to Leith, but had to call into Kirkwall Bay to clear contraband control. On the way out, she was in collision with the " Baron Fairlie" and despite attempts at salvage, was beached in Roane Bay Deerness, where I understand, that she became a total loss. I assume that the ship in the previous photograph is the " Tennessee".

Yes Fred thats the Tennessee, I understand that part of her cargo was teakwood, Unfortunately there isnt a lot of it left today but I have been lucky enough to get a few bits. in todays world teak is a bit like hens teeth with a terrible price tag on the end of it.
