Thornley Cup winners medal

Thornley Cup winners medal. I think this must have belonged to my grandfather,Attie Campbell.

Comments:
A fine medal in sterling silver, hallmarked Birmingham, 1924. Nice AKC monogram too. (Made by Israel Sigmund Greenberg & Co.)

I own a small silver medal inscribed as follows: 'Thornley Charity Cup 1922 - 1923'. It is stamped F&S along side a similar silver mark as the medal in the picture. I cannot make out the name of the mker or designer which is in very small print at the top. The front of the medal is quite beautifully designed and depicts a scoccer scene. There are no other inscriptions. I have no idea of its originality and has been hanging on the chain of my pocket watch as a fob for some considerable time.

With Google's help, James, I'd say your medal is by F Fattorini & Son Ltd, a Bradford firm whose work was hallmarked at Sheffield (crown) and, later, Birmingham (anchor).

Thank you Ian. Your comment is correct. I have had someone look at the small print with a magnifying glass and he confirms your observations.
