My mother Mabel Gillespie née Grieve on the left and Jean Rendall on the roof of Trumland House, Rousay.
Every year the whole place had to be spring cleaned for the gentry folks arrival in the spring and summer. Mum worked with the cook in the kitchen as well. She only had one half day off on a Thursday and so I think she soon changed her job and worked in the Rousay Post Office and later on did nursing in the Balfour Hospital during the war.
