Weird mist outside Stromness Harbour

I've since learned that this is called 'sea smoke' and occurs when the sea temperature is 10 degrees 'warmer' than the air temperature.

A type of advection fog that forms primarily over water when cold air passes across warmer waters- from weather.com.
Several years ago when working on MV St Ola we encountered this fog for several trips, I remember someone saying that it had to be -10 for this to happen. The whole ship felt very cold and it was eerie when we sailed through the fog. Several photos of the Ola were taken by Keith Parkes which appeared in the Caithness papers at the time
