This is my boat Nora, built for Ward of Scar in Sanday by boatbuilder Omand of Sanday. He died in 1905, so the Nora is well over 100 years old. How many other Omand boats are out there ? Photo taken 2008.

Many years ago, I owned a yawl which had been converted to creel fishing. She originally belonged to a Tulloch family in North Ronaldsay, She was named the "Press Home",and I wonder if she was built by Omand in Sanday. She had very similar lines to the Nora, 19ft. overall length.I knew the owner, John Tulloch who lived and worked in Kirkwall, and had many a yarn with him. He said they sailed regular trips to Kirkwall, often faster than the Steamer. She had a Britt Marine engine as a back up. Added by Phil Brough.
