PL Johnston and his tailoring team

A splendid picture by The Orkney Photographic Company, School Place, Kirkwall, of P L Johnston and his tailoring team in Stromness. Can anyone suggest a date or names? 'P L' himself is at the table. I think he was my maternal grandmother's uncle, or perhaps older cousin. She worked for him as a seamstress before she married.
I doubt if this photo dates from much later than 1900.

Comments:
When I was a boy (some time ago) the old men used to say that, in this world, there were two certainties:-
Death and PL calling at market time!

What about the women?

I am not sure of the significance of the above query
'PL' dealt only with men's clothes.

There were female seamstresses; my maternal Granny (as I said in the original caption) was one. To very nearly the end of her days she could run a thread between (moistened) forefinger and thumb, and lo-and-behold there was a knot on the thread!
This was probably a picture of the time-served tailors and apprentice tailors on PL's payroll, hence no women.
