Rainbows end on Faray

Lovely shot Linda. Pity the crock of gold is so inaccessible. Can anyone explain why the sky is always a little lighter inside a rainbow's arc than outside it? It's been good weather for rainbows lately. I'll post one of mine, just to show how good yours is.
