Not sure what kind of creature this is but thought it was a nice marked thing.I saw this in the Harray Hills in Orkney on 21st July 2009.
It`s pretty well camouflaged in the green surroundings.

Its an Emperor moth caterpillar. Seen occasionally in the peat hill

Looks like the caterpillar of the Emperor Moth.

This is the caterpillar for the Emperor Moth which is quite common in Orkney.
