Dorothy Hamilton died last year, she was my cousin.
Added by Jimmy Hamilton on 17 July 2009
Was that Charlie Hamilton's daughter Jimmy? They lived at Selwick in Brims for a while in the 50's and then left to go back to the Isle of Sheppey, where Charlie used to work.
Did she get married down there and to whom?.
Added by Fred Johnston on 17 July 2009
I was very sad to hear of Dorothy Hamilton's death, she was a very nice lass, outgoing but not showy. Dorothy was one of four lasses from Longhope. Olive Graham, married Erland Firth and Freda Kirkpatrick married John Findlay, both familys' with homes in Kirkwall and Longhope. Somebody might keep right where Muriel Macleod is and Fred Johnston has asked the question as to Dorothy after school days. Added by Phil Brough.

There was a boy Carl Hamilton from Salwick in Brims- would that be a brother to this girl Dorothy? I mind he had appendicitis soon after I had been in hospital with the same condition. Have a feeling I met him again some years ago, he must be close to 60 years of age now.
Information on this by return Jimmy, today will be fine!!.

Phil, and John, I don't know much about Dorothy after they moved south, I was poor at keeping in touch, I know she married twice, and lived in High Wickham...and yes John, Carl was her brother, he was youngest, and had an Army career if my memory is right, they had a lucky escape when Selwick burned down, they had a close call that night..

I met Ian Skea in Kenya, around 1986, I think He worked for the colonial service and wrote a book about goat breeding in Kenya. He was a very great friend.
