This photograph shows the Orcadia loading cars in Scrabster in 1982, when she was deputising for the St Ola, which had suffered a fire in her engine room while returning from refit. The journey took in excess of six hours, as the Orcadia landed at Kirkwall, to the dismay of a lot of seasick passengers.

If I remember correctly the Orcadia also suffered the same fault - only her crew noticed and she returned to drydock before a fire broke out. That year her drydock lasted about a month or more longer than usual. I think this was a matter of weeks before the Ola went on fire.
