Comments:
We think that this is Dave Linklater's 'Auntie Irene' (sister of Bob, Norma, Jean and Freda) and that the photo would have been taken at the back of her mother's house in Willowburn Road. Irene MacKenzie (nee Linklater) has lived in Alexandria, Dumbartonshire for many years. I'm sure someone will soon let us know if we are wrong!

This is Jean Linklater taken at the back of the family home in Willowburn Road, her mother Barry was a Stronsay girl. Jean married the late William (Billy) MacGillivray from Broad Street. Billy was a printer with the Orkney Herald before they moved south to the Glasgow area.

Just doing a bit of browsing and there is my sister, Irene!! Not Jean, of course you knew that, Erlend. I had my first visit "home" to Orkney in 18 years in September this year so Bob, Norma, Jean, Irene and I spent a few lovely days together. A real nostalgia trip for me. This photo' was taken at #7 Willowburn Road and I even managed a drive past there - happy memories.
On reflection, I guess Irene was the goodlooking one!! LOL Those could even be David Linklater's little dungarees hanging up to dry!!
