shows the first Kirkwall Power Station, a picture which I have clearly dated incorrectly. As it stood right behind the Town Hall, the revellers at the Oddfellows Ball would undoubtedly heard and felt its presence, as well as enjoying the light from the electricity that had travelled the few yards to get there.
