Davie Chalmers (date approx)

This P.C. was sent by Davie to a member of the Maxwell family who lived above their shop in Bridge Street. I wonder whether he came from Kirkwall or one of the islands. He obviously knew many of the Maxwells.

Comments:
Hi Clare. David Chalmers was a common name in Stronsay when I was young. I can remember four men of that name . They were all older men so I could not say if this was one of them. Peter Maxwell the tailor in Edinburgh would be the grandfather of Rhoda in Iona. He trained as a tailor at Sunnybank here in Stronsay.
