Comments:
John I remember it with a shop but feel reasonably sure the shop bit was in a door on the end where the car is standing, there was a horsedrawn van in that building on the left of the pic, or a building thereaboots. Kids were known to take lemonade bottles oot o the crates at the back o the shop, and go in and get a sweetie wae them, some right bad yins aroond in them days, of coorse John was too young tae be involved.

Are you sure the shop wasn't at the other end of the house, John? In where the blue door is.

Aye John, bet ye never forgot the side o the entrance door to picture #16969 unless ye were trying to get in through the coal hole.

I mind going in that door and mum asking for the only 1lb mince that was left on the counter, it was in a dish with a lid on as there were no fridges in Longhope at that time - it was crawling with maggots! I was a fussy thing at the best of times but that put me off mince for a while.
Minnie and family were fine folk but that Alsation dog that used to pop it's head over the fence didn't look so friendly and we kept well clear of it on the way home from school.
