I recently received this copy of the 1985 Rovers team that played Golspie Stafford in Helmsdale in the Highland Amatuer Cup. We came away slightly disappointed with a 2-2 draw if I remember correctly. What I do remember is it was some trip home!!
They came to the Bignold the following week and beat us 2-1.

Having played for Kirkwall Rovers from 1976 to 1979 I was pleased to view photo with Ralph Fotheringhame in it and I believe Foulis in goals and Steven Herbertson whose father Rab I played with, great club and fantastic memories

Alan the son of an ex-team mate is in the picture. The man standing to left of John Foulis with the receding hair line is Graeme Findlater, the elder son to Pat Findlater who played in goals.

Looking at it again I also recognised Stewart Leslie, John Matty Stephen, Billy Johnstone who was a junior player when I helped to run the team and Pat was a fine man and I knew that Graeme would turn out to be a good player even in 1979 ! Kind Regards to all in Orkney

I still shudder at the thought of their equaliser - a long through ball down the centre and when I went out to meet it I was more interested in protecting myself from their chasing attacker than keeping my eye on the ball.

Alan, I think you are correct but I could not remember Liam playing for the 'A' Team.
