Henrietta Groundwater

This is a very grainy photograph of Henrietta Groundwater speaking to Ernest Marwick, taken from the frontispiece of her book “Memories of an Orkney Family”. Long out of print, this book was transcribed by two people who regularly contributed to the genealogy ‘rootsweb’ ORCADIA list, Mike Clouston (transcriber) and Meg Greenwood (who offered it for download)in the 1990s. I had thought it long lost as the websites listed in the ORCADIA page are long gone, but I discovered Meg’s site had just moved (details on the download). Henrietta’s book is now also available for (copyright free) download off the Orkney Singers website on Communities. It makes for fascinating reading, and has the origins of the name of Cattie Maggie’s quarry. If anyone has a better photo of Henrietta I’d be very grateful.
