A Dougie Cooper picture from 1970.
At the school sports a few weeks ago, Maureen Swannie asked me if I remembered that in our day there were tents with ice cream, soft drinks and sweeties... which I did, and there they are!
The picture will have been taken from where Thoms Street passes Meadowbank these days, looking over the KGS playing fields. I remember there being an old crane next the school, but don't recall the road roller.

Thats pre-1970.The new hostel was opened in that year and going by this photo they are excavating the site for the hostel.In the foreground that looks like the ground work for the "new" road.
