It was rather peculiar when I was thinking about the past one day, suddenly I recalled the name of a friend named Jane Esson, I saw the ladies hockeyteam picture on the Internet. I remember a girl in her teens named Jane Esson, lived in those days in a farmhouse on the top of the Ontaft in St. Margaret, s Hope (A.D. 1965) (I was then 17) We went to the local dance and probably I had a few pints and after the dance we went walking, and I remeber that we instantly decided to get married on the steps of the church, it was after midnight, she invited me and offered me some tea at her home and I remember clearly that we fell asleep on the sofa, When I awoke I ran back to my Grandparent, s place Crowsnest, were I was staying for our summerholiday. My mother, Annie Innes was born at Crowsnest 20 and she married a Dutch Submarine companion. Ofcourse I am curious to know if she is THE JANE ESSON on the photo. I think the house was named Heatherbell and the beautiful Orcadian lassie emigrated to Canada so I was told. Hoping to hear more about her whereabouts.

Hello Maggie,
Did Jane live with her mother in 'Ourigair' in St Margaret's Hope in the 1968/69. We worked together in the Tontine Hotel in Peebles in the spring of '68.
I just felt like returning there last week after 47 years!! The place really hadn't changed!
I'd love to get in touch with Jane, she did go to Canada, to her brother?
I do hope to hear from you!
Regards,
Les.

Jane did move to Canada, eventually married my brother, and sadly she passed away in 2005.
She remains one of my favourite people ever.

Hello Maggie,
Thank you for your help. A few days ago, I did hear from a great niece of hers, that she had died. One of my favourites too, even after 47 years of no contact. Thanks again,
Les.
