The man on the left is Bill ? who was the test clerk, i.e. the person who dealt with fault reporting and testing, in the Kirkwall Exchange in the early 60's.

The middle three gents are, Bob Nicholson, a very dapper Charlie Smith, Tommo Leonard, ( mechanic in Croys garage ).

The gent extreme right is Tom Gilbertson, resident exciseman or was it manager at the Highland Park

could the second from the left be a Mr. Nicholson who used to read meters

Second left is indeed Bob Nicolson, who read the electricity meters for many years.The bottle on the bar is not a Haigs dimple, and the water in it is decididly peaty coloured.

In the good old days pubs used to supply free mixers to help yourself to. That looks like lime cordial.

Extreme right is Tom Gilbertson, the Excise Officer at Highland Park. He was also for a number of years the producer and musical conductor of the KAOS and father of Susie Gilbertson, the Primary school teacher at Papdale.
