As well as being an engineer in the power station, William Burges was a "jointer" (a job that requires the maintenance of the electricity cable underground). His tools were a pick and shovel ...a job now taken over by a JCB when required.
This picture of him leaning on his "JCB", was probably taken sometime in the 1930's...corner of Castle St. and Broad street was the location.'
