Snowy West Tankerness Lane

A Tom Kent picture, date unknown. Looking up Tankerness Lane. Note absence of the Lerwick Engineering and Support Training buildings.
Picture added on 03 March 2006
Comments:
I was told that the distinctive stone of the houses on the left was originally intended for a pier in one of the isles but it was never built. Opposite the top of tankerness lane you can see the old house that was demolished in 1930 to widen the entrance to victoria street. The photo archive has a J W Sinclair picture of boys sledging in Tankerness Lane in the twenties. Maybe it dates from the same time as this one.
