Top of the Form was run by the Northern Constabulary and was very popular at the time. I guess it wouldn't be allowed now because it would be too competitive and would exclude too many folk. It might put too much pressure on the children and the stigma of not making the team would be too much for them (or the parents more like!)
Of course I don't agree with any of that nonsense. I never got within a cat's whisker of our team but I remember going along to watch and cheer anyway.
Phew! Glad I got that off my chest!!

Do you know what's even sadder...as a member of the vastly superior Papdale team that lost to Mr Foulis etc, I can still remember the question they beat us on and it haunts me to this day.....!

They did get the majority of their education at Kirkwall (Papdale ) Primary School prior to the opening of Glaitness.
