I've just gone and got a new digital camera, replacing my 3.2mp dinosaur, so I thought I'd test it out and try taking a photo of the little brass plaque I'd spotted up the back of the Cathedral (picture #11752) to see how much better it was - but the plaque's gone!
Anyone shed any light on what's happened to it? Has it been nicked? Or have the powers that be at the Cathedral taken it down?
It didn't seem to be hurting anybody...

I met Brandyman in Tesco tonight (he's been on holiday, recovering, but he said he's getting ready for winter and getting among his photos again!) and he gave me my answer...
It seems that the "powers that be" did indeed take umbrage at this poor wee plaque, and it's been taken down. I didn't think it was hurting anyone although, as Brandyman pointed out, what if everyone in Orkney decided that they wanted a "peedie plaque" on the cathedral? - It would end up brass plated!
Still, I feel a little guilty that I might have been the one that drew this to their attention, thereby bringing about its demise!
