There should be some a number of memory-joggers here. Buchanan and Liddle, Solicitors, Bremner and Co, Ship Owners, British Linen Bank, British Oil and Cake Mills Ltd, the Clydesdale and North of Scotland Bank... Note also the vast entry for the Coastguard, reflecting the level of activity and manpower here at the time, inlcuding the manned lookout down at Burwick (Broughness).
And also Egilsay being Egilshay right up until 1957 anyway- who decided that was wrong?
