'[This picture was] amongst a large box of photos of my grandmother's
family [Wishart and Harcus] but not thought to be her family. The box alsohad quite a number of photos from the St Andrews/Tankerness side of the family [Smith, Spence, Hourston, Eunson, Lennie, Foubister, Matches] and I think this may be related to them. Don't know if the photos were taken in Orkney. If anyone can identify anyone in these two photos I would be grateful.'

The gent standing extreme left has a striking resemblance to Ex-Bailie Alexander John Cook Grant. If the man sitting second right is holding a football, (though it could be a "Ba") that would confirm it in my opinion as "Old Sandy" was a leading light in Orkney football, both as player and official. The only photo I have of Sandy is his obituary in an extract from The Orcadian dated January 16, 1941. He was my aunt's husband.

Some of these poeple may be amongst them too? I have searched through these 2 photos for similarities to others and can see some resemblances to the Spence family from St Andrews, Orkney but none that are identical. They appear very well dressed in both photos for it to have been a casual event locally?
