North Isles Boats

MV Islander arriving for the first time, and MV Orcadia.
Picture added on 18 June 2008
Comments:
Islander built at John Lewis shipyard Torry Aberdeen long covered over as part of John Wood Group supply base. Originally had 2 Paxman engines driving 1 variable pitch propellor. These engines were notoriously unreliable so she was re-engined with 2 Deutz after about 10 years. Though she was a very handy ship for cargo the lack of a bowthrust in 1969 was unbelievable. She should also have been able to carry diesel in bulk to be pumped ashore to a tank on each island Pier - a missed opportunity.

She was sold to new owners and is registered in Honduras as 'Mary Pau'. Can't find any other info apart from she is listed as 'general cargo' and can't find any pictures in Honduras.
