Balfour Village, Shapinsay

A postcard sent to Marion's grandmother, date is estimated. The current ferry pier and sthe slipway are not present in this picture, and I assume it has been taken from the oldest pier.

Comments:
I did hear that before the time of the balfours the village was called Shoreside, is that true?

It is true the old name for Balfour Village was Shoreside. A much nicer name in my opinion. My folks have the shop in the village, when they moved premises (across the road) a couple of years ago they named the new shop 'Shoreside'.
