Gerald Turnbull is my brother who now lives in Lowestoft. He became a merchant seaman, eventually earning his Masters Certificate. He lives with his wife. He has 5 grown up children and many grandchildren. My father Gerard Francis Turnbull was a teacher in Orkney for many years. He taught in Egilsay, Hoy and Evie.

Brian Gray, this is the pic that I saw your mum Rita in, I didn't realise it was the one you emailed to me.... Its Kirkwall Grammar School, explains why I hardly knew anyone. I knew your Mum at North Walls school on Hoy....

Jimmy Hamilton - Do you know which house my Mum (Rita Stephen) lived on at Hoy? Not sure if the house was Millbay West or Rock of Cleavy/Cleary?? I've seen Millbay West on an old map so that sounds most likely. Going to try and visit Hoy next year.

Sadly, many of the pupils in this photo have passed away: Sheila Walker, Andy Sinclair, John Leslie, Betty Sutherland, Rita Stephen, Mabel Mowat and David Gorn.

I have just moved into a property in Clyro near Hay on Wye. In the loft I have found certificates for Gerard Francis Turnbull for his barrister degree and an MBE from his time in the Air Force. If anyone would like them please contact me.

Hi Sarah Gerard Francis Turnbull was my grandfather. He was not a Barrister or in the RAF. Might be someone nearer to you in Wales. Hope you have luck finding them.

Gerald Francis Turnbull was my grandfather although I never knew him. I know very little about him or my uncle Roderick. I travel the world now, occasionally returning to Scotland now and then. My last trip to Orkney was memorable. Would love to hear from anyone who knew my mother, uncle or grandfather. I've been told my grandfather used to teach in the old Kirkwall Grammar School?
