Varagen from bridge wing of the QE2

I think it was around 1996 the QE2 came into Kirkwall. Lot of boats trips round her that day, the local press and other guests got a tour of the ship.

Comments:
QE2 made her maiden (and only) call to Kirkwall on 1st Aug 1998- well that is what it says in Capt R Warwick's book about the QE2. I remember being on the Varagen that day looking up at the great liner.

The kirkwall Regatta was on the same day and a snipe capsized under her bow. we had to rescue the boat and my abiding memory of her is the boot topping. That was all I could see for about half an hour as we were so close. Grand fun. I hope to see more of the topsides soon as I am off to Norway on her in [date removed just in case- see comment below!- Steven].
