Mystery Picture- Volunteers?

Date estimated.

Paul writes:
'I know nothing about this photo except that it was taken by T M Macgregor, photographer, Castle Street, Kirkwall. I think it shows two members of the Orkney Artillery Volunteers, but someone who knows about uniforms and insignia will be able to correct me. It probably dates from between the turn of the century and the First World War.'

Comments:
Sorry Paul, can't help with the picture, but being military interests me. I think I might have found an ancestor at sea, fighting at the Battle of Trafalgar, 1805. Family lore says our Driver(surname) came from Scotland, then into Yorkshire, then down, well Ifound my Driver family in Llanelli, Carmarthenshire. So, now am trying to track back if possible, to see if there is any truth in what I have been told. The man I found was John Driver, born in Kirkwell, it said. Aged 24. He would have been old enough to be the fathe of James Driver, born in cheltenham, Gloucestershire, about 1800. Further, James Driver's first born son was called John Driver, and born in 1825. So, enough to go on for now?
I hope you do find out the identity of the two soldiers in the photograph.

Nearer the turn of the century than WWI I think.
