The SS Tabarka is a blockship sunk in Burra Sound close to Graemsay during WW2. She now sits up side down on a shallow sea bed. The above picture shows divers in the engine room.

She was sunk about 1944 or 45. When I was 5 or 6 years old and making my way from Garson to Windywalls in Graemsay one afternoon there was a very loud explosion and then, when I got to the top of the brae, there was a new blockship in Burra Sound. She had distinctive "goal-post" masts. Like goalposts across the width of the ship and a mast standing from the centre of the horizontal member.
