[Somewhat changed today! Note the garage for the old Rolls Royce hearse next to the toilets. Who owned the hearse? Was it a municipal one? And what happened to it?- Steven]

As far I can remember, the old hearse was owned and operated by the Kirkwall Town Council. It lay unsed for many years in that garage, where I believe someone broke into the shed and smashed one of the side windows. The last I saw the hearse in the garage, it was a sorry looking site.

Stevie Ross now takes it to the vintage rallies.

Is that the hearse that the cooncil put the 'arrive alive' road safety campaign sticker on? ...and then quickly took off!
