Remember this spoot well

It was a real treat to be dispatched to Lloyd's shop on the corner of Shore Street for a bottle of Garden's lemonade (glass bottles, with 5p deposit to be reclaimed) and Pomona crisps!
Although I remember getting free crisps when Dougie was delivering to The Queens Hotel if I happened to be outside playing!

Aaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhh Cream Soda. Remember it well. How many bottles? Don't ask. BUT I did my bit for the environment by recycling them all. They were returnable in those days.

I had a summer job in Gardens lemonade factory when still at school. 'Beefy' Johnston, Bella Ritchie and (I think) Roland Barnett were there at that time. Did everything from soaking the labels off, sterilizing the bottles and screwtops, filling and labelling.

I think loads of people even back in those days did their bit for the enviroment and recycled these bottles, not for the cash, but for ALE bottles.
In fact I would need to get some filled very soon.
