Emergency Supplies

This ship, (operated by the army), took emergency supplies into Kirkwall during the seamen's strike in 1966. I noted that the emergency supplies included kegs of beer. Is that the Noup Head passing in front?

Comments:
Aye Sandy, that is the 'Noup Head' passing in front. Further to my comment on picture #5422, the small motor boat lying alongside 'lobster kists' at the Hatston Slip belonged to D. Meil & Sons, Shellfish Merchants, Ayre Road, Kirkwall - the building now converted into a Night Club. The motor boat was operated by a Mr Wylie (Jim ?) and was used for towing the kists out to, and ashore from, moorings.

Ta for that Erik. The men working the ship were definitely army personnel. See also picture #6366
