Discovered this chamber today. It is situated beneath the floorboards of the main entrance hall in an Orkney manse.
Roughly 2m long by 1.2m wide by 1m deep. It is lined along the sides and bottom with flag stones. We think it was for keeping food in ? It has a removable hatch with a sturdy iron ring for lifting it off.

Not a priest hole is it ? Did they have them in Orkney?

It's probably for chilling the communion wine
