The fifth of a series of pictures from that fine establishment where HIS is now on Pickaquoy Road. The last of the old fashioned hardware places like Nicol Spence's, PF Thomson's, Mackay's Furniture Store, PC Flett's...
Alan has entitled this picture 'Kenny'. So that'll be Kenny then.

Thats a good picture of my mothers brother, Kenny Rendall who drives for Craigies taxies. The owner of that business is now Chris Wilde.
James Flett & Sons could be added to the list of closed hardware stores. It was a great place to work, and i have lots of happy memories from them days. I was working in the sweetie shop with Margaret Spence before i left the school, also in the grocery/ironmongery where Teddy Tinch & Eric Mackay were a great inspiration.
Arthur's bit of very useful advice from those days was 'when writing anything down, put a date on it'
