Three well known faces from 1972. This is in the Cocktail bar of the Royal Hotel (Orkney Hotel) Kirkwall. Peter Walls,Fred Leask and Robin Cooper. That is a gas heater that Peter has his arm on, I'm not sure if they were still in operation in 1972. Fred was a real character,bless him.

Nice one Peter was my brother and Freddie was my cousin and he came from Birsay, Bander was a well known character.(Sadly their all gone.)

We lived next door to Fred for years and as a child he terrified me marching up and down the road cursing and swearing (usually after a day in town). Of all the people I met in my 25 years at the Hydro, Bander was possibly my favorite. Mis-understood by those who did not take the time to get to know him, he was a real gentleman. I spent hours yarning to him about anything and everything.
