Date is an estimate again. The consensus in the office is that this picture is looking north from Porteous Brae towards Graham Place.

No question about it. It is taken with your back to wall of what would be my father's shop Drever & Boyes Licence Grocers from 1948 till it shut in 1984. The shop was converted into living accommodation in 2001/02

Have just come across this while idly clicking on Random Pic (a very fine way to pass a little time). In those days, 'Porteous Brae' hadn't been thought of. It was Laird's Brae after the butcher whose premises were a few doors further south in what was later James (Jimmy Feet) Stevenson's shop.
