The Sulisker at Kirkwall Pier. VERY high tide - the Islander's gangway is just about vertical.

Comments:
Never liked having to go up gangways like that as a bairn - don't think I would fancy it yet at that angle! It was worse at the Hoy pier where I seem to remember a straight up and down ladder.

I wouldn't fancy going DOWN that gangway... especially with your luggage with you!

Re the gangway: I'm not sure but I think that this would have been a crew/ staff
only set up while the ship was working. I seem to remember that they could put a gangway onto the deck where the hatch was, and onboard passengers that way.

Not to much of a problem for the ISLANDER, as I think it only carried 12 passengers at a time.

I was working on the Sulisker as a motorman on this date.
