For years I hunted for pictures of Blachree, the house in the front of the building works, having work done to its roof (by the same building firm). I owned this house from 2000 til 2007. Funny how things turn up!

When we knocked down the old sheds one of them was very black and sooted, someone said that there had been a blacksmiths here?

Yes Robbie, that's right. I can't quite remember the rights of it, but in one of the the census reports of many years ago maybe as early as 1901, there was a man listed at Blachree as a Blacksmith. I don't know when the business ceased to be - but certainly in the first instance it was there. When I got the keys to the house in 2000 there was a spurious old-fashioned key included that opened nothing in or around the house. It was suggested by Neil Isbister from the Olde Manse that it may have opened that very shed.
