The Power Station. I don't remember seing these chimneys and tanks in the "artist's impression" of the Power Station, published before it was built. It's a nice building, spoiled by the clutter at the back.

I always wondered what those "chimneys and tanks" were. And why anyone allowed the most beautiful view of the the town to be ruined.

The station started off with smaller engines and smaller stacks back in 1953 and as demand grew by Orkney consummers then the engines were increased in size to cope with demand
