I worked as message boy for Mr & Mrs Thomson in the early '60s. Used to deliver to Mr & Mrs Jimmy Dewar, Richmond, Deerness Road. After delivering the groceries it was a nice freewheel back down to the Brig where inevitably Mr Thomson would be waiting with an egg in his hand (Jimmy Dewar had been on the phone to report that I had broken one during the delivery - back up the hill with one bl**dy egg! )
