My grandmother and her famiy (10 of them) lived on Sanday in 1911. Her father was in the regular army and their address on 1911 census is given as Drill Hall Cottage, Lady, Sanday. Later they moved to Bakies Buildings in Kirkwall and were there until after the war. I have visited Orkney twice and hope to return sometime and visit Sanday.
