Excellent Squads of Boys in the Kirkwall Company. What an impressive display!

I wonder what the date is on this photo, if there is one. My grandfather, alfred sinclair, was in the Kirkwall boy's brigade in the early 1900s. he may be in the photo, but I can't quite tell. I have a little brigade pamphlet he was given, which I think gives the oaths and such for members. Perhaps I will submit a photo of it.

My late father is seated fourth from the right in the front row, a member of what was then known as The Life Boys, the junior reserve of the Boys' Brigade.
Given that I know his date of birth, plus I know you had to be nine years old before being accepted as a member, I would say that the date of the photo given, 1923, must be just about right.

Hi. I am producing a book on the BB around the world. Does anyone know the history of the Orkney BB? I need it within 2 weeks plus any photos I can have permission to use. The book is to raise money for BB companies in hardship such as the one we will fund first in Ghana. Nobody is making any money out of this venture. Please send to [email protected] Many thanks David chant
