I am interested to find out more about this house/croft. I presume it is on the island of Sanday and the photograph would have been taken around 1954 when my parents took a trip to Sanday.
If it helps, my great grandfather was Thomas Peace born 14 December 1893 Thorness Sanday.

Graham, this house is Whistlebrae, usually known as Whistle in Sanday. It's the third last house on the right, before Nouster on the 'Wastin' road in Burness. It looked like this until the 1980's when it was refurbished. Up until then it was the home of the Dearness family.
